Due to certain situation most of us would rather stay or have to stay and work from home. To be productive working from home can be a challenge for some of us. On my previous post I’ve shared some insights on how to be productive working from home. Now I’m going to share some recommended activities that can help you to increase our productivity.
Backup our files
We all know that this is important, but we all keep putting it off. Spend an amount of time weekly to backup your phone and your computer to a cloud storage such as Google Drive or Dropbox. Have it stored to a cloud storage is important if you want to be productive working remotely so you can access them anywhere. Sort out some pictures that you have double, for Photos i would recommend Google Photos as a cloud storage.
what else?
Sort through your email inbox
You can create a filter, folder, tag or label in your inbox to help you sort which email you should read first or trash them without even spending time to read it. This can saves a lot of your time so you can do other things that make you more productive. Unsubscribe from newsletters, this can be satisfying, saves your inbox and also saves your time. If you are not interested anymore, unsubscribe from uninterested mailing list. Consider doing this every once in a while in case you follow a lot of newsletters.
Unfollow Social Media Accounts or Topics that make you feel bad
Social media nowadays plays out our fears while we spend so many hours on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook and this may affect our productivity. It may distracts our focus and causes us to be anxious. This is important for our mental health and stress levels. Unsubscribe from accounts that don’t serve you, that harm you and mute topics that give you anxious feelings.
Learning online
“Experience is the best teacher” this is what you probably most heard as you leave academic life and on board to a working life. Yes, you learn lots of things as you do your daily routines, but you could learn some seriously cool thing if you just search for it online. Doesn’t matter if it’s a course on Youtube, a free trial on some learning platform. Take note and learn something new that you can be proud of. It’s satisfying when you can relate listening to somebody talk about that topic later on in the month/year. You also can help more people in case they have a problem with the topic you learned about.
Get healthy
Allocate some energy into working out a little bit no matter how busy you are. You could spare a 5-10 minutes daily before your morning breakfast for a quick exercise consisting of plank, crunches, burpees and squat with some reps and variety movements. Of course if you can have more time and energy allocated then by all mean you should go for a full exersice. This would be beneficial for your body, generates hormones that make you feel better and decreases stress. Also have yourself a healthy dish to eat to nourish your body after all the stress and hard work. Our body needs care and by doing so helps the mind to concentrate better and be less stressed.
Take a break
Depending on how you feel you should take either a few hours of whatever you are doing. You don’t want to get a burnout just because you are overwhelmed. Just take a step back and go for a cup of coffee or tea. You may want to use this break time to do a quick exercise mentioned above. Taking a power nap is also a good idea to improve your brain productivity.
There are more activities that we can do to make us to be more productive, the above are my recommendation. If you have more recommendations you can comment below and share it with me.
